HTC and Samsung both have launched the mini versions of their flagship smartphones. The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini is a shrunken version of the Galaxy S4 model. While HTC One Mini is smaller version of HTC One.
Let us have a look at the comparison of specifications and features of both the models.
Design : Design-wise both the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini and HTC mini resembles their older siblings.
Dimensions : Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini is slimmer (8.9mm) but shorter (124.6 mm) compared to the HTC One mini (9.3mm) and taller (132 mm). However, the One mini is heavier at 122 grams compared to the 107 grams weighing Galaxy S4 mini.
Display : Both the devices features 4.3 inch display. However HTC One Mini comes with higher resolution 1280×720 as compared to the Galaxy S4 Mini 960×540. Besides this, the HTC One Mini’s display sports the Corning Gorilla Glass 3 technology that delivers lighter, thinner and stronger display compared to the Galaxy S4 mini display using Corning Gorilla Glass technology.
Processor : Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini is powered by a dual-core 1.7 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 mobile processor. While the HTC One features same processor as dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 clocked at 1.4 GHz.
Also the Galaxy S4 Mini features 1.5 GB RAM while One Mini packs 1 GB RAM.
Memory : The Galaxy S4 Mini comes with 8 GB onboard storage, it can be further expanded to 64GB using microSD. While, the HTC One Mini features 16 GB, but there is no memory card slot in it.
Camera : The Galaxy S4 Mini features 8 megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash. Whereas the One Mini packs the 4 megapixel image sensor with UltraPixel camera technology and ImageSense chip.
Connectivity : Both devices support 3G networks and 4G LTE networks for faster data connectivity. Both smartphones require a micro SIM card.
HTC offers support for 4G LTE, HSPA+ 3G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, microUSB and GPS. While Samsung offers 4G LTE, HSPA+ 3G, Wi-Fi(Direct, Hotspot), DLNA, Bluetooth Low Energy, NFC, microUSB and GPS.
OS : Samsung has equipped the latest version of the NatureUX over the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update. While the One mini comes with Sense 5 layered on top of the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean version.
Battery : HTC One mini comes loaded with 1800 mAh battery while Galaxy S4 Mini offers 1900 mAh battery.
Well its a bit difficult to say who wins the game.
HTC offers the slightly weaker processor, less RAM, and lower internal storage but offers you the UltraPixel camera, HD resolution and the high quality build.
The S4 Mini offers you lesser storage but compensate it with the microSD card slot, offers more RAM and a decent camera.
When you look at the design the plasticky finish of Galaxy S4 Mini feels cheaper than the aluminum found in HTC’s flagship.
Samsung retails the Galaxy S4 mini for Rs. 27,990 in India. However, the International pricing of the HTC One mini is expected to be around Rs 34,480.
