You need

Depending on your service plan, you may be charged for transferring data. Please check data transfer rates with your mobile service provider.

Set up your device to work as a modem
These instructions are for a typical setup: if they do not match your device’s menus, please check your user manual.

Find your access point name
First, you will need to know your network operator’s access point name (APN). Access points are listed in Settings > Connection > Access points: select an access point and then select Options > Edit to display its access point name.
Select Settings > Connection > Packet data
Select Access point and enter your operator’s access point name (this example uses “internet” as the access point name).
Select Back. The display shows your operator’s access point name in the Access point field.
Select Options > Exit to close the Settings application.
Connect your device to your Mac
You can use Bluetooth or a USB cable to connect your device to your Mac before going online. USB is faster, but Bluetooth doesn’t need cables.
